Clowning is a state of playfulness, which invites us to experience a child-like naivety and vulnerability. This particular approach to clowning is very different from the circus clown and does not include tricks and gags. It is a journey of discovering our unique way of being a clown. By focusing on the individual we go straight to the heart of clowning, which is the search for authenticity both in the social or personal dimensions of our lives.
The clown’s nose, the smallest mask in the world, is the mask that unmasks. Through clowning we can experience inner qualities of spontaneity, openness and play. The clown gives wings to our imagination, whilst keeping our feet firmly on the ground. Working with physical and vocal warm-ups, games and on the empty stage, we will find our inner clowns through improvisation, play and welcoming everything that emerges.
